Buonopane Leads M.C. past Rags, 16-10

LeBREQUE FIELD, HN - Sal Buonapane got the start again and delivered by pitching five strong innings to lead McInnis Carpentry over the upstart Rags last night 16-10 at LeBreque Field.

Buonopane (2-0) picked up right where he left off from his last start against VFW last week, throwing strikes and getting ahead of batters early.

"Just give me the ball", said the 15 year veteran "I just go out there and throw strikes, put the pressure on the batters. I've got a good, solid defense behind me so I know if I can just get them to put it in play we'll be alright". In 12 innings of work he has not walked a batter. Buonopane left the mound with a 12-10 lead as Greg Harper came in for the final six outs.

The Rags club got off to a rousing start by scoring 4 runs in their first at bat. The lead didn't last as the veteran laden Hammers calmly answered by opening up with 8 runs to reclaim the lead. The Rags proved to be a team that may make some noise this year as they added several new players to their roster. They got as close as 10-7 and 12-10 before the M.C. Club scored 4 in the sixth to secure the win.

Scott Logan continued his torrid pace as he went 4-4 from the plate with a triple and HR. Logan has eight hits in the last two games with 10 RBI's. "It feels good", said the Hammers thirdbaseman "I can put the ball wherever I want right now. I'm that damn good!"

Leadoff hitter Greg Harper had another solid night from the plate going 3-5 and scoring 3 runs while shortstop Bill Wysocki went 3-3 with a sac fly and 3 RBI. Mike Aupperlee & Steve Yocco each had 3 hits as well.

With the win McInnis Carpentry improves to 3-0 on the young season.
