Logan, Hammers Rout VFW 22-8
LeBREQUE FIELD, HN- Scott Logan had 4 hits and 4 RBI including a two-run HR to help McInnis Carpentry roll past the VFW in Thursday night softball action from Houghs Neck.
Greg Harper had 3 hits while Mike Aupperlee went 3-5 from the plate as every starter in the Hammers lineup had a hit.
Sal Buonopane (1-0) pitched 5 innings of six hit ball to pick up the win in the run-rule shortened game.
Right fielder John Southern banged out two hits and picked up an RBI while short stop Billy Wysocki drove in 4 runs.
The M.C. club raced out to an early 8-1 lead only to see the VFW battle back to tie the game in the fourth inning. The tie was short lived though as the Hammers erupted for a 12 run bottom of the inning to put the game out of reach. Mike Cedrone, in his first at bat in over 25 years, drove in the final run which gave the M.C. club a 14 run lead thus ending the game.
McInnis Carpentry improves to 2-0 on the season.
